Luke Tchalenko was born in Camberwell, South London, in 1977 and took
his first roll of black-and-white film fifteen years later in Peckham.
Luke splits his time between London and Moscow, working as a freelance Editorial and Corporate photographer.
From portraits in London to revolutions in Ukraine and Rasputin's severed penis in St. Petersburg, Luke travels Europe, the former Soviet Union and further afield, taking photographs
for leading European, Canadian and American newspapers such as The New
York Times, The Globe and Mail (Toronto), Der Spiegel (Hamburg), The Guardian (Manchester), The Times (London), The Independent (London), The Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph (London).
Magazine clients include The World of Interiors (UK), Newsweek (Japan) and Casa da
Abitare (Italy). Corporate clients include White and Case, Stiles & Riabokobylko and The Anglo American School, Moscow. Luke also works with Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Red Cross.
Luke held his first solo exhibition at the Centenary Gallery, South
London, in 2004. East of Peckham focused on the lives and environments
of people to the East, and depicted the often-unseen aftermath of
conflict in Russia and Iraq.
Luke uses a variety of professional digital and film equipment. Filing GPRS from the field or couriering transparencies from the studio, he is available for immediate Editorial and Corporate assignments.
